Our Story

Thanks for stopping by our store. This project is a passion project for me on many levels. As a proud graduate of Howard University (HBCU) College of Fine Arts and lifelong creator - I know how life changing attending an HBCU can be and wanted to be intentional and inspire others to either support or to consider attending one of our treasured schools. Inspiring others to wear their support via artisanal artwear for HBCUs is one humble step towards shining a light on one of our nation’s greatest treasures. Join us in this movement...

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have”

HBCU ArtWear apparel signature design aesthetic is grounded in culture and seeks to resist trends and instead focus on uplifting authentic artistry that evokes positive feelings. All designs featured in our store are inspired by paintings from my studio. Our inaugural HBCU collection incorporates visual cues from three key paintings. Since I started painting, I’ve often mused about how I could create a platform to bring art to the masses in unexpected ways - thus making it accessible to all. In memory of my Father, I’m devoted to taking this journey to the finish line.

In addition to our HBCU ArtWear Merch collection - we are pleased to offer items in Special Collection from the soon to be launched RoseHeartNoir brand. My artistic expression has been a divine gift for managing stress, battling a rare condition and most importantly channeling creator energy. Embracing our inner creator is divine – if you or someone you know is looking to showcase their personal style authentically consider an HBCU ArtWear original.

Hope you find something that inspires you.

How it comes together...

Everything on HBCU ArtWear site is printed just for you. Unique designs are created and then uploaded, once you’ve made your selection, the product is responsibly produced and shipped.

Production times can vary depending on the product and the time of the year, each item you order is custom-made for you by a 3rd-party printer, meaning there is no stock in a warehouse somewhere.
